I have always loved animals…
I have always loved animals… I have lived on a farm all my life, and was married to a farmer for a number of years. We bred and showed Purebred cattle for quite a few of these years. We did quite well being credited with a few Grand and Reserve Champion Awards.

For as long as I can remember I have had a passion to raise great looking, excellent quality dogs. I remember having bigger dogs while I was growing up' and the same after I was married. They consisted of Border Collies and Cross bred dogs.. I didn't know anything about the little Shiba Inu breed.

A few years back I had the opportunity to look after a friend's adult female Shiba, Treenie. My friend was selling her farm and building a house in the city. She wanted Treene to live in the country where she was used to living instead of going to the city. Little did I know I would fall in love with this smart, sharplooking, fox like, little dog.

At this time we were going to breed the Shiba Inu together. Keeping it in mind we wanted to appeal to both pet owners, wanting a smaller shiba, and breeders wanting the standard size for showing and breeding. Therefore, we set out to find a male that was proven to produce both sizes. This is when my friend purchased 14" Yuniku's Spirit Dancer from Jenine Wilhelms from Nebraska U.S.A. He is a son of an International Champion ( Elliot of Tiachung )( INTERNATIONAL CHAMPION ) Elliot has sired many champions.

Anyway, we were very pleased with this little guy ( SPIRIT DANCER )after knowing his breeding history and seeing some of his off spring. We got him home just in time to breed Treene. She had 3 female puppies, and after spending time with them and watching them grow and develop their own personalities, it wasn't long till I was definately hooked and bought 2 of the babies.

After a year of raising the Shiba my friend asked me if I would like to purchase Treene. I was very excited and said " I sure do " and I also purchased Foxi Lady and Baby Girl. Kita was sold and turned out to be a Beautiful dog. All these girls are on the Watch Us Grow Page. Well it all started from here. I was hooked and continued breeding and raising the Shiba Inu. I have been doing this for 12 yrs. now and am having a blast with this little unique, smart, sharplooking, tough, little breed. There is NO DOUBT I have found my passion.

I have a daughter Kim who also loves animals. She was raised being around cats, rabbits, dogs, cattle, horses, and a donkey ( Pedro ) that she first learned to ride on . Kim has won some of her own awards riding her Quarter horses in competitions. Kim is a school teacher now and engaged to be married

I don't have any grandchildren as yet. therefore, the Shibas and 5 Ragdoll cats take on a role of grandchildren in my life, each having it's own personality which makes it interesting and fun to work with.

As a Result, all my kittens were and puppies are kitchen raised. The puppies are raised around the cats as well.

I know the farm environment is excellent for them. All the noises and the variety of experiences; with people coming and going as well helps socialize them at a young age. I believe this is a key factor to getting the puppies and kittens ready to go to their new homes at 8 wks. Socializing the Shiba puppy while it is young is one of the MOST IMPORTANT things the Shiba needs to become a friendly, outgoing, happy dog as an adult.

I have a job as a Recreation Therapy Aide in a Continuing Care Center in Camrose. I take my puppies at 6 weeks old after their health checks and first shots to the Center for Pet Therapy. It is one of the Most rewarding things I have ever done. It is so amazing to see what the puppies do for the residents and it helps socialize them even more.

When the time comes that I do have grandchildren ( I remain optomistic ) I hope I will be able to give them the opportunity to experience and reap the wonderful feeling, joys, and self- satisfaction that comes from raising animals the same way their mom did and their grandma does now.

I think it is very important for children to be raised with animals. It is a very important way for them to learn responsibility, and it is a wonderful way for them to show love, compassion, and caring while they grow.

My main focus, therefore, is to cater to families who make their dogs and cats a part of their family circle. It is very important for me to find and place my animals in nuturing homes.

I hope you will take the time to view my site of Shiba Inus

Also take it into consideration the type of home I am seeking for them.
